What is parcon?

Parcon is an inclusive, cooperative, site specific movement practice that challenges conformity to pedestrian movement through movement and tactile investigation primarily inspired by Parkour and Contact Improvisation. It was first developed by Parcon NYC, a collective of movers from Contact Improvisation, Parkour, and marital arts backgrounds. Contact Improvisation is a duet dance form where two or more people share weight and momentum on a dance floor through any part of their body. Parkour is a urban obstacle course running form that prioritizes efficiency and the conquering of self-determined challenges. In Parcon, movers cooperate to share weight in interdependent relationships with objects, assistive devices, each other and the environment.
